Our Story

As a young boy on an Amish farm, I loved the quiet lifestyle. We farmed with Belgian Draft horses, milked eight cows by hand, and at the end of the day, we sat around the table and sang old gospel songs. My parents always showed hospitality, and often we fed strangers & travelers.
My love for leatherwork grew from my farming experience with horses.

At 12 years old, I was driving eight big Belgian Horses on a disk or plow.
At the end of the day, Dad and I would repair our harnesses and collars, preparing for the next day. Dad’s favorite quote was, “Stitch in time saves nine”. Also, “If it squeaks, fix it! Grease it, sew it.”
My father and grandfather were innovative, so I naturally developed a love for leatherwork. It always gave me great satisfaction. By the time I was a teen, I was running a sewing machine, using old equipment, peddling sewing machines, and eventually hooking up a line shaft with belts and pulleys to power equipment. We were Amish and had no electricity, so we utilized gas lighting! In 1996 I hired my 1st sales rep trying to sell to western stores and develop horse tack & saddle gear.
